Pricing

How much will it cost?
Development costs for a typical project range from $1,000 to $8,000.

However, each project needs to be discussed individually. Please call me at 801 710-7992 for a no-cost CONFIDENTIAL consultation.

The goal of the first prototype is to prove that the idea will work. Even with the first prototype we try to envision the finished product. As you show the first prototype to potential customers they may suggest additional features or improvements. It is important to seek and consider this input as it could make a big difference in sales potential. The ultimate goal is to have a product that will sell. This may involve several prototypes.

$60/hr - Electronic Design - Micro-controller Assembly Programming
$50/hr - Visual Basic Software Development
$40/hr - Website Development

The actual costs will be according to the time spent at the hourly rate(s) shown above in US dollars plus materials. Fixed bids for this type of work would be unfair. Please view the Product Development Agreement for more information. Payment can be made by check, electronic funds transfer or major credit/debit cards through PayPal.

FCC Testing

I can make several prototypes for your evaluation. When the development work is complete the finished product will need to be tested to FCC (Federal Communications Commission) standards before you can legally offer it for sale. There are some exceptions for low frequency battery powered devices. Unfortunately this is an expensive test that needs to be done by a certified testing facility. Typically the test costs about $1,400.00 plus 6 hours of my time to be onsite while the test is conducted. The test allows you to sell your product in the United States and Canada. There will be additional testing costs to be able to sell your product in other countries. FCC testing is only needed for electronic products. FCC testing is NOT required for software or web design projects.
